Long weekend (Part 2) - 3 on 3 Bball

So last Monday I survived the Great Aloha Run (barely), and my body finally started to recover and then this past weekend started.

Firday afternoon after I helped wire the house I drove out to Waimea for the Annual Waimea Town Festival and the 3 on 3 Bball tournament they were putting on. Our team had to play 5 games on Friday night, then I drove all the way back home to Kapaa...slept...and drove back out to Waimea for 3 more games on Saturday morning...waited 4 hours in Waimea, and played 3 more games that night. We ended up winning the tournament, which was nice, but it was just fun to hang out with the guys I was playing with and all the other basketball guys on Kauai. (Maybe Erin has some pics she can post).

Long weekend (Part 1) - House decisions

There have been a lot of progress and decision making going on lately on the house. Brandon and Jarrod have been working hard on the house as usual and have most of the siding and battens up.

This past weekend I helped my coworker finish up wiring our house for telephone, cable, networking, and speakers. That wasn't too bad cause John was doing most of the work...haha. All I gotta do is remember where all the wires are so I can find them when the drywall goes up.

We also had to go look for lighting fixtures. It isn't super critical yet, but I like to plan early for things. Erin and I took about an hour to go through the huge catalogs at Home Depot. We finally made some decisions, but I have to go talk to them about the cost and if it can be shipped to Hawaii.

When people ask me where our house is I just tell them to look for the bluest roof in the entire sub division. Don't worry that is only the plastic stuff to keep it water tight, and hopefully they'll get in the actual roofing in soon so that can get started on that.

Door!

I ran by our house yesterday to see what I needed to ask my electrician to do this weekend, since we will be doing the Great Aloha Run on Oahu (still can't believe I'm paying to go running). There were a few new things. We got in our master bathroom whirlpool tub, our outdoor shower rough-in, and an exterior door to the garage. I can't explain to you how excited I was when I saw the door. I guess with a new house and all I get excited pretty easily.

Hopefully I'll still be alive after the Great Aloha Run and can update the blog next week.

Darin the Electrician (Not really!)

So after a weekend of working with John (my coworker/friend) and Doug (our electrician and John's dad) , I am pretty tired, but thankful I got some great guys working on our house.

I have had no real experience in construction and definitely not in electrical work, but I had a lot of fun this weekend learning. I'm just really glad Doug is a patient guy. He likes to explain things, watch me for 10 minutes (laughing inside), and then tell me the right way to do things...haha, better stick to the day job. Anyways, I think I'm going to help them out again today...or just get in the way...whatever.

Outlets and Siding :)

Do you think our builders like green tea? (They are actually extremely neat workers)

Siding is installed around the house.

Darin worked with our electrician all day Saturday to put all those blue outlets and switches in our house. He also had to drill lots and lots of holes in the framing to run wires through them.

They also installed a board in our kitchen for the island. Who would've thought a board would be so exciting?

Also, see this wall below? Lots of blue thingies - means lots of outlets and stuff for darin's media center in the living room.
