Levi's friend, Ethan, just turned 1 and he had an Elmo themed birthday party right near our house at the Puakea Golf Course. They played with a bunch of balls outside and had yummy food and some cake for dinner! Ethan is more than 6 months younger than Levi, but is taller and chunkier than him. Ethan is such a happy boy!

Diane Horita does a hospital ministry every Sunday, and for the last Sunday in March, our Ohana group decided to volunteer to help out. Our keiki sang songs, Emma played the piano, and the Teruis led the worship songs while everyone else helped the elderly turn the song pages in their binders. It was only an hour long, but it felt like eternity! Everything we had planned went so fast, we were scrambling to fill the time. The good thing was that the elderly probably had no idea that was the case, and they enjoyed seeing all our kids being kids.
Levi's new words have been rice and mouse, but he says them "ricie" and "mousie". I love hearing him speak new words and be able to better communicate what he wants and how he feels. One of my friends said rice with pasta noodles (uncooked) make for a great toy to keep this age busy. It keeps Levi busy, but it makes quite a mess! He's getting better at not making so much of a mess, and I'm getting better at letting him make a mess. Haha! I keep reminding myself that he's working on his fine motor skills.
We got a new bucket of sand toys from Costco and have been going to the beach more often since the weather is shaping up to be nice and summer-like. Levi could play in the sand/water for hours. We go to the same beach (5 minutes down the road from our house) and he loves it every time.

Easter was right around the corner and we were able to participate in 3 Easter egg hunts this year. The first one was sponsored by Times/Big Save, and it was advertised to start at 9 am and go until noon. We seriously arrived at 8:59 and just in time for them to say "Ready, set, go!" Levi froze and I told him, "go, go, go!" He got ONE egg, but they also had some good snacks laid out on the ground that mommy managed to pick up and hand to Levi to put in his bucket (some animal crackers and yogurt puffs). He wasn't aggressive at all, but I think he had fun!

Emma, Evan, Maile and Kaira were also there participating in the Easter egg hunt. We tried to take a group picture... After about 15 shots... This is what we got:
Easter Egg Hunt #2! This one was put on by King's Chapel, and it was quite a production. They had a Kung Fu Panda skit in the blazing hot sun. Levi was actually paying attention, but we were roasting! We finally got to find some eggs, but the age cut off was from 1-4 years old, so Levi was at a disadvantage, and majority of the kids there were in that category. It was okay though, he had no idea that if he got more eggs it was better. He picked up one, then I got handed him one. He dropped the one he picked up (rather than putting it in his bucket) and then grabbed the one from me. He probably touched/picked up about 10 eggs, but ended with about 6. The eggs were all filled with candy and it was good that he didn't get too much!

Easter Egg Hunt #3! This one was at Kauai CC put on by the student government. I think Levi got 2 or 3 eggs at this one, but they were filled with chocolate and it was all melted by the time we picked them up (another blazing hot day!). Levi got to see two Easter bunnies and actually took pictures with them! No tears this time like when he was at the Aulani with Mickey and Minnie Mouse. It was so crowded, we had to park and walk from the opposite end of the campus. I should have brought a stroller, but Levi was a champ and walked most of the way! I thought we were going to miss the "ready, set, go!" again, so we were trying to walk as fast as we could. Levi understood that he needed to find the eggs :)

End of April marked a birthday for our friend Dustin. His wife, Kristi, booked a weekend at the new Koloa Landing Resort and invited us to enjoy some pool time. Kenzi and Levi are about 3 weeks apart in age, and Shaylee just turned 4. They had fun playing in the pool and munching on lunch for the afternoon. Levi zonked out on the car ride home.

On Sunday, Brittney and Matt invited us to go swim at their pool. The weather has been so nice and sunny, and again, it was a perfect pool day.

A couple weeks ago, Levi and Daddy both came down with the flu. Poor thing, both had fevers of 102 degrees or higher, Darin had body aches and sore throat (and I could only guess that Levi felt the same). Levi only wanted to be carried and cuddled. They both stayed home. Grandma and grandpa helped to watch Levi while Darin slept most of the 2 days he stayed home. Everyone asked me "how did you not get sick?" I have no idea! By the grace of God. It was right before finals at KCC and I couldn't be out since my students needed my help in reviewing for it. To find a sub at the college is kind of challenging (I would need to ask my math colleagues). Well, after they both recovered from their sickness, the next week Levi started having a runny nose! This runny nose has lasted him over 1 week already (he still has it), but thank God it's nothing like the flu!

My good friend, Eilleen, came back to Kauai for her brother's wedding and we were able to go out to dinner and talk story. She was my maid of honor almost 10 years ago, and I was her matron of honor 3 years ago. It's hard to believe that she hasn't really been home since 14 years ago. We don't keep in touch a whole lot, but when we do talk, it's always good.

May 19th (two nights ago), Levi actually started to build with his Mega Blocks! Darin is usually building with the blocks and Levi usually knocks them over. This time he started taking all the small pieces and put one on top of the other. He built it so high that he brought his stool over to build even higher. He was so proud! I thought he might throw a fit if the blocks toppled over, but he had fun saying "TIMBER!" if it did, and then built it back up again.
