Levi and Mommy go on a Date

Levi's daycare provider went on a trip to Oahu, so mommy and grandma took turns taking Levi and Lily for the day. Levi got to spend time with grandma in the morning, and then mommy got to take Levi on a date in the afternoon while grandma watched Lily. 

The simple things in life are free, and sometimes the fun things can be pretty cheap! Here's how our $10 date went...

Then we stopped at the fountain to throw the three coins Levi brought with him. Maybe next time we can bring coins to buy something instead. 

Then we tried on some shoes since his feet are outgrowing his current shoes. Levi liked these the best, but we didn't buy them (yet). He ran around the store in them (good thing it wasn't crowded!), and that was a good indicator that he could move with them and not gribble. 

Mommy got to run a couple errands as well (macys, bank, and kmart) while Levi counted the stairs and played I Spy as we traveled across the "mall". 

Then we ended at Pho Kauai to pick up some soup for our sick daddy. Levi and mommy got to share a boba drink with jellies. Levi loved it! 

Mommy had so much fun spending time with her boy. She's so proud of how he is growing up. It seems like he's growing up even faster now days since we aren't able to just have all of our focus on him. Mommy hopes she can do these dates with her Levi at least once a month. The time just passes so quickly nowadays!

Lily is 1 month old!

This month has passed by so quickly! I have one more month to be home with this little sweetie pie, then back to work. With Levi, we enjoyed seeing him grow and do new things, but this time around, with Lily, I'm actually sad that she is growing so fast. She have up her newborn clothes at 3 weeks old, and moved to size 1 diapers at 2 weeks. Lily is taking after her big bro's chubby cheeks for days. I will also try to be better with taking month by month pics for Lily's first year than I did with Levi. 

Levi turns 2 in a few weeks too! We didn't forget about the big bro :)

4th of July Weekend

This past weekend was full of family and friends. Lily just made 2.5 weeks old and got to meet her Maui Grannie for the first time! This was the youngest grand-baby she has met in person - Zoey, Kiley and Levi were all at least 1 month old before she got to meet them. Grannie said that Lily looked a lot bigger in the pictures than in person. She's so tiny compared to Levi, but she's growing so fast! She's already out of her newborn clothes and diapers. Lily also got to meet her two uncles/aunty on mommy's side - Uncle Jed, Uncle Royce and Aunty Amy. It was a fun-filled weekend and everyone had a wonderful time.

Yum! How patriotic!

We went to Shane and Stacey's house to watch the fireworks instead of the stadium. Levi was interested and said "BIG" and "baby" when he saw the fireworks (some were big and some were small). It was nice to just come and go and not fight any traffic our crowd, especially with having two kids to tote around now. Plus, Lily was too little to bring to the Hospice. Maybe next year we could make an afternoon/evening at the stadium.

We said goodbye to Grannie on Sunday afternoon, her visit seemed so short! We enjoyed her company and how much love she showered on us all. I think Levi didn't really understand that Grannie was leaving, so he wasn't very friendly to her in saying goodbye. She did, however, call a couple days later and he said "BYE!" and "I LOVE YOU!" very loudly to her on the phone.

After dropping Grannie off at the airport, we went to my grandma's house in Ele'ele for dinner. The rest of the family met up with us there (they were up in Kokee picking plums, sight-seeing, and trout fishing). O Bachan held Lily for the last hour before we headed home, her arms were probably aching, but she loved carrying her that she didn't want to let her go! It's so sweet to see how much love gets poured out on our family.

It was a quick weekend, full of events and food. We are so glad everyone could come to visit and hang out with family!

The week before, I was experiencing Braxton Hicks contractions, and started to think "what if baby came early?" I was so comfortable with our scheduled c-section date, that I didn't even consider that option. I usually operate last minute, so after having a few contractions (maybe 2-3 every hour), I finally decided that it was time to pack for the hospital. The contractions came and went, and I actually lasted until our scheduled c-section date: June 17, 2014.

39.5 weeks pregnant, checking into the hospital at 6 am

Day 2: Levi started warming up to Lily. Mommy was beginning to feel more herself again.

Big brother

Levi has been a great big brother despite his adjustment from being the only child to having to share mommy and daddy with someone new. When Lily cries, he brings her a swaddle, her burp cloth and her binky. He sometimes wants to play with her and tries to hand her his toys. The challenge we are facing with Levi is getting him to stay in his bed at night. He has been waking up and walking over to our side of the house and Darin has to walk him back and wait until he falls back to sleep. Sometimes he is wide awake and wants to play! It's been tiring for both Darin and I since we are both not getting a complete night's rest.

We couldn't go very far (or pretty much not go anywhere) the first weekend home from the hospital, so Darin kept Levi busy in the yard. Levi played in his pool from last summer (quickly outgrowing it) and said to daddy, "sit daddy, sit". Of course, Darin sat in the pool with him.

This time around we weren't very worried about our first baby - Tobi - adjusting. When we had Levi, we wrapped Levi in a swaddle and then sent it home with the grandparents to have him smell Levi's scent. We were all cautious bringing Levi home to meet Tobi. This time around, we didn't do anything. Tobi adjusted fine! :) Such an easy first baby!
