Levi is almost 1 year old!

This month has gone by really fast and it was full of celebrations! Our pictures will tell the story:

Levi got (unfortunately) sick for a few days after the Yamadas came to visit. I think all the kids got sick :( His highest fever was 102 degrees for a couple days, then it got better. He was in a grouchy mood and only wanted to be cuddled, but we took all the cuddles we could get!
Poor thing!

One June 1st, I got back into the running (or more so jogging) scene and completed the 8 mile Haena to Hanalei run. It was the 6th time I've ran this run, but this one was extra special since it was a mommy comeback after having Levi.

Sisters: Cassandra and Pamela also ran H2H - from way back Drill Team Hawaii days

Evidence of the finish :)

On June 3rd, Darin celebrated his 32nd birthday. He didn't want to make a big deal about it, but I knew he wanted to be able to celebrate with friends. We decided to do a te-maki sushi night where everyone makes their own handrolls.

Andy and Michelle... and Dustin, haha!
Chow time!
Make a wish...

Unfortunately our sink started to leak, but it was great that we had a Department of Water employee there to help!

On June 5th, Darin and I celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary. Grandma and grandpa watched Levi in the afternoon, and we got to go surfing together! There actually was a LARGE south swell wrapping into Kalapaki, and we were able to surf on a good day. Unfortunately, the tide was high so the waves were rolling instead of breaking, but it was the best anniversary gift anyone could have given us. For dinner, we did takeout from Kauai Pasta. Since Levi was still getting over his cold, he went to sleep at 7:30 and we got to enjoy a nice dinner too!

Throwback to 06-05-04!

The rest of these pictures are of random times throughout the month of June.

Levi having fun with Grandma pulling him around their house. Faster Grandma! Faster!

Always enjoying the beach

Did I eat enough sand yet, mommy?

Tobi got to come with us too :)

Bubble bath!

This one is kind of blurry, but I had to LOL since his bubble head looks like a George Washington wig.

Awwwww, enough pictures mommy! I just want to take a bath....

Levi's first haircut!

Levi's hair is starting to grow in, and his sideburns and back of his head were getting long. As grandpa would say, "his hair stay touching da fenda!" So we youtubed how to cut a baby's hair and tried the feed and trim technique.

BEFORE
Daddy's attempt, but Levi kept moving!
Then mommy tried and got some food to cut with his hair too!
Some of his hair that we managed to cut
Can you tell? Here's the AFTER pic :)

Kit Kat Tasting with Andy and Michelle - they brought these back from Japan . Some of the interesting flavors were: edemame, pear, strawberry shortcake and wasabi.

We did a blind tasting... I think David won :)

Happy Father's Day daddy! Levi got daddy a wide brimmed hat to work out in the yard with so he doesn't get so dark.

Lawn mower cupcakes.

Smiley face

First time in a swing. Levi loved it!

Darin always is great with playing games with Levi. Here Darin is chasing him
and Levi is running away from him to safety (mommy).

Levi is getting better at feeding himself, but he still manages to drop some food.
Tobi's waiting patiently for some popcorn to drop... now... now... now... please... please... please....
Oh, and Tobi has gained 1 lb since Levi started feeding himself. We haven't taken him walking as much either,
so the past couple of days I made sure to take him walking.

Levi LOVES mandarin oranges. We know because he can manage to finish 2 cups in one sitting = if we let him. Also, he throws his food when he doesn't like it or he's full, but he has never thrown these oranges!

Levi at Anu's graduation party. That tickles!

Levi has gotten a lot better at napping, but we usually wait until he wakes up before we go in his room. This time we woke him up so we could go to church. I had to capture some sleeping pictures since he looked so peaceful.

Frozen blueberries = very messy baby

He loved it though!
One of the perks of being a teacher is summers off! Impromptu beach days are nice, especially with other adults who are also off! Chandra and Baby Bodhi (7.5 months) invited us to meet up with them for the beach. This past week, we were introduced to a mini beach made for babies on the south shore.

Whattup brah?

All I need is an ice cold bottle of milk :)

Home Improvement!... Project 1 Update, and Project 2

Project 1 - Sprinkler System

The sprinkler is installed and running! Since we added some compost and fertilizer as well as LOTS of water... our grass is beginning to GROW!... along with the WEEDS. My mom and dad have actually been coming over to help us pull weeds and I have been trying to pull weeds while Levi naps. It's a slow process, but this is the first time I can see a light at the end of the long tunnel since we've gotten grass/weeds in our yard :) Yay for grass!

Project 2 - Tile the Patio

Last weekend, Darin started to prep the patio for tile. We enlisted the help of a friend who is a tiling expert. Steve came a few days/nights to help Darin get started and to teach him a few tricks and techniques, and he has started to do things on his own the past couple days. I've actually helped him when Levi has been sleeping/napping. It's been kind of fun!

Darin had to cut the siding a little higher. The first saw he rented, died... and it took him all day to find a replacement and finish the job. It was a delay in getting started, but because he was delayed, Steve showed up at the right time and saved us some money on supplies by lending us his wisdom and experience.

Acid wash

Smoothing out the bubbles from the initial layer of thin set.

The tiling has begun!

Even Levi is excited to see Daddy work on the patio!
